The app “AEON WALLET,” provided by AEON Financial Service Co., Ltd., has won the Bronze award in the Service Design category of the “iF DESIGN AWARD 2024” and in the MOBILE TECHNOLOGIES, APPLICATIONS AND SOFTWARE DESIGN category of the “A’ Design Award & Competition.” This marks a double international design award victory. FOURDIGIT was responsible for the service design and UI/UX design.

Launched in 2016 as the official app for AEON Card, “AEON WALLET” has been downloaded over 17 million times. In September 2023, the app underwent a major renewal to bring users closer to financial services. The new AEON WALLET offers personalized features tailored to users’ lifestyles and life stages, covering a wide range of services such as credit cards, QR code payments, and points. The app is designed with a simple UI, enabling quick access to payments and coupons when needed without the complexity of displaying numerous services.

 

In the “iF DESIGN AWARD 2024,” the app’s advanced design and enhanced user experience were highly rated for “Idea” and “Impact,” leading to the award. The “A’ Design Award & Competition,” established in 2010 to recognize outstanding designs and activities worldwide from Italy, bestowed the Bronze award, given to the top 10% of recipients.

 

AEON WALLET

FOURDIGIT has been involved since August 2022, contributing to service design, UI/UX design, front-end development, and building a continuous improvement framework.

 

Through user research with 1,300 participants on payment and coupon apps, We identified areas of user pain points and potential needs in existing experiences. A simple design philosophy was adopted to address the overload of information and usability issues, allowing users to customize information and features as needed. The app is personalized for each user, aiming to improve financial literacy and provide a continuously convenient experience.

 

Alongside front-end development, FOURDIGIT has established a continuous improvement system and continues enhancement efforts after the app’s release in September 2023.

The “iF DESIGN AWARD 2024,” based in Germany, is one of the world’s longest-established design organizations, annually awarding outstanding designs. This year, 10,800 entries were submitted from 72 countries, with 132 design experts from over 20 countries evaluating entries based on “Differentiation,” “Form,” “Function,” “Idea,” and “Impact.” In the Service Design category, 67 entries were awarded, including six from Japanese companies.

The “A’ Design Award & Competition” is one of the world’s largest design competitions, selecting the best designs, design concepts, products, and services. It is evaluated by a grand jury panel of renowned scholars, influential journalists, established design professionals, and experienced entrepreneurs, awarding five ranks: Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze, and A’. This year, 1,642 winners were selected from 114 countries.
